New Features at #MEAction!

Announcing Private Messaging, and an Idea Center with real-time notifications.

You’ve all been unreasonably patient and understanding as we work through the bugs of our beta launch and work to build the best possible platform for you. The #MEAction team is thrilled to announce a new set of features available now for #MEAction members.

Private Messaging

We already have the Member Directory but we didn’t have a great way for you to get in touch with your fellow Network members. Enter private messages. Send chat-style messages to anyone else on #MEAction. Find their profile in the Member Directory and then click the blue “Message” button to start talking.
NOTE: Email notifications are only sent for the FIRST private message sent to you. If someone messages you, you’ll get an email the first time but not the next time she responds, or the third time, etc. You will however get a notification on the #MEAction website. We know, it’s not ideal and we’re working on a fix!

The Idea Center

The idea is a forum combined with a brainstorming session. It’s not an ME/CFS forum to discuss treatments and research, it’s a forum dedicated to helping ME/CFS activists strategize new methods, strengthen their ideas, and find collaborators for their actions. Come on over and get involved! It’s the perfect place to throw around that idea you’ve had for ages but never done anything with or to encourage people to start taking action on their own ideas.
A bonus feature is the real-time notification system specifically for the Idea Center. You might not see it now but when someone mentions you in the Idea Center or responds to what you write there, a notification will pop up on your screen in real time.

What’s next?

We’re just getting warmed up. In the coming months we hope to launch more and more new features to turn this platform into an unstoppable force. Planned updates and upgrades include:

  • Crowdfunding – specifically for ME and without fees
  • OneClick Politics – send email campaigns automatically to members of Congress or State Legislature.
  • More Actions! We need your help for this one. Check out why and how to promote your action at #MEAction

We can’t wait. Thanks for your help, support, encouragement, and patience! As always, contact us with any questions, problems, or ideas. We can’t wait to hear from you!
