INTRODUCTION TO Canary Corps
December 6 @ 1:00 pm – 2:00 pm PST
Join us to learn more about a new grassroots, peer-run program #MEAction will be launching in the United States in early 2024 to help people with ME, Long COVID, and other infection-associated chronic illnesses find and access local services and support for people with disabilities.
This will be an innovative and radical program that is run by, and built for, our sick and disabled community. We call it: Canary Corps.
At this workshop we’ll explain more about the following areas where Canary Corps will focus on helping people access support:
- Affordable health insurance guidance,
- Medical care coordination/case management,
- Regional centers for disability information, advocacy, and assistance, and
- Home – and community- based services for people with disabilities.
We are starting with these four areas because established, local disability services and supports do exist but our community often has difficulty finding and accessing them. Prior generations of disabled activists fought for our right to have these disability services and supports. Come to this community education workshop to learn more!
Our hope is that Canary Corps will help people in our community to bridge gaps they face in accessing support for these disability-related and daily life needs.
Whether you are someone looking for help from Canary Corps or are interested in volunteering with Canary Corps we hope you’ll join us for this special event!
Be sure to RSVP, even if you are unable to attend, and we’ll send you a recording of the event.
