Exciting News for MEAction UK

I have great news! After years of building up #MEAction UK and #MEAction Scotland, the volunteers on-the-ground have officially founded their own charity! #MEAction Community, I am happy to introduce you to the Official MEAction UK Charity!  Here’s a Q&A to explain what it all looks like: 

What does that mean? MEAction UK is now their own entity. #MEAction and MEAction UK (including Scotland) will be working together side-by-side with each of our own independent non-profits with shared values and missions. 

Why did this happen? The movement in the UK is big and country-specific but not being a registered UK charity created some barriers and now #MEAction UK and #MEAction Scotland will be able to raise UK-specific funds and grow in a bigger, more concentrated way. 

Why now? This was years in the making (literally). I cannot wait to see what this amazing group of people will do!

This new charity structure for MEAction UK and MEAction Scotland is the best thing that could happen because it allows for more robust work and more autonomy. I am looking forward to seeing what important things they do next! And of course, we are beside each other, coordinating when we should and cheering each other on, always.

This expansion of the #MEAction charity brand is very exciting. Some of you are probably wondering, can I work towards having a #MEAction charity in my own country? While we love to expand even more, due to the time and energy it takes to create a new charity in a new country, we are not currently exploring expanding any other countries to be their own legal non-profits. So for a long time to come, it will only be #MEAction (US and Global) and MEAction UK (UK and Scotland). We fully appreciate everyone’s support over the years. It is your commitment to our mission, vision and shared values that has led to this moment!
