We can’t Race, but we can Pace.

Register today to Help Change Policy, Culture and Research funding for ME and Long COVID.

MEAction is launching a “Pace to the Capitol” campaign to bring our private pain of ME to public places, and to spur our lawmakers to ACT on our behalf, and to change culture around this disease!

“Pace to the Capitol” is a seven month campaign leading up to May 12, 2027 when we will place 200 empty beds in front of the U.S. Capitol. Two hundred reminders of the people missing from school, work, family life, and public view because of ME/CFS and Long COVID.

Beds are our symbol to represent the most severe among us.

THE IMPACT

MEAction is working on a number of unprecedented opportunities this year that we have never had at once, and we need to keep ME in the spotlight.

We are working with Congress to get the ME/CFS Research Roadmap funded. We are working with the Surgeon General's office to develop and disseminate ME/CFS educational materials to clinicians. We are working with The Library of Congress to recognize ME/CFS as a disability that qualifies for services. We are working with State Medicaid leaders to protect Medicaid for our community. We are working in Hollywood and have set up an event to educate TV writers and showrunners about ME/CFS.

From October through May, registrants will take actions to move our progress forward. Beds represent the severity and urgent needs of ME/CFS and Long COVID. Registrants will strategically place beds both in public places to spark conversation. Mini bed art installations will appear across the country. At home, our community will take actions through emails, social media, zoom meetings and storytelling. All of us working together will take our Pace over the finish line.

JOIN THE CAMPAIGN

Join us in D.C., organize in your community or show up from home – or participate in all of them!   All events will include at home actions. You can change your mind if you register for the Home Team or the Hill Team now. Register either way, and we can always make adjustments.

  • Register to join the Hill Team or the Home Team: Both are enormously important and both include at-home actions leading up to May 12th and the Hill team is for folks planning to travel to DC.

  • Start a Fundraiser: Everyone who raises $150 or more will receive a pacing pack (t-shirts, swag, action guide, minibeds and more)that is centered on the “home team” or the “hill team,” which includes minibeds and a mini cardboard cut out of the capitol building. Don't worry, scholarships available soon!
