This year especially, #MEAction is fighting to make sure that ME and Long COVID are acknowledged as severe and complex medical conditions, and this matters more than I can say. It affects whether people qualify for a "medically frail" exemption for Medicaid access across the US. It shapes whether the NIH allocates research dollars anywhere close to matching the true burden of this disease, which in turn signals to the rest of the world that this funding matters. It affects how the NHS treats severely ill patients in the UK, what care looks like in Australia and Brazil, and in countries around the world where people have shared their stories with us about what medical frailty recognition means for their lives.

Right now, #MEAction is fighting to protect basic access to healthcare and home support through Medicaid for millions of people in our community. They are fighting to save federal research funding for myalgic encephalomyelitis and Long COVID. They are fighting to protect access to disability services that allow us to participate more fully in society.
