Researchers, Clinicians and Patients: Submit a Manuscript on ME to WORK Journal

Researchers, patients and clinicians are invited to submit a manuscript for consideration in a special issue of WORK: A Journal of Prevention, Assessment and Rehabilitation (IOS Press), which will focus exclusively on the area of myalgic encephalomyelitis/chronic fatigue syndrome (ME/CFS). Submissions are due Sept. 13, 2019.

Scope

The focus of this special edition is to examine how the concept of work is redefined by the disease process of ME/CFS. Work is central to the identity and sense of competence of each individual, group and population (American Occupational Therapy Association, 2014).

Individuals living with ME/CFS have a unique perspective on work as a result of the challenges brought about by the disease. To shed light on this unique and particularly challenging relationship between ME/CFS and work, this issue will seek to investigate and demonstrate what “work” looks like from a biological to individual to community perspective.

Manuscripts are encouraged, but not exclusive, in the following areas:

Research of the disease process and biological effects

Studies identifying the disease burden on individual to society levels

Scientific reviews, therapeutic interventions, case studies, personal stories
