Carol Head Named 2017 Oprah Magazine Health Hero

Carol Head has just been honored by O, Oprah Winfrey’s magazine, as one of fourteen 2017 Health Heroes, “visionaries who are healing bodies, minds, and communities.”

“Although we would have preferred a more substantive piece (and inclusion of “myalgic encephalomyelitis,” or ME, as our disease name),” Solve ME/CFS said in a statement yesterday, “we are touched that Oprah has recognized the importance of featuring this devastating disease.”  With over 2.4 million paid subscribers, O, The Oprah Magazine represents some much-needed exposure for ME.

#MEAction would like to congratulate Carol Head for being a tireless advocate and for increasing understanding of ME in the wider world.

  1. Hi MEAction,
This initial article about Carol Head, and the Solve ME/CFS Initiative, although less detailed than one would wish, is an excellent start. I’m sure you have thought of approaching “O” for a more in-depth article, while this topic is still on their radar.
And, if I can be so bold, a couple other ideas to suggest to “O” include: a series on prominent female ME advocates, both in North America, and perhaps abroad. As well, an invitation to Sundance Film Festival to view “Unrest’, and do interviews about it.
Thanks very much again for keeping us apprised of what’s up with ME!
