Tell the US Labor Department you support new disability insurance rules

Comment on proposed ERISA regulations

The Department of Labor (DOL) is proposing new regulations about ERISA disability claims (those filed through private or employer-paid disability insurance, NOT Social Security).
Currently, the deck is heavily stacked against patients, and very much in favor of the insurer. If approved, these rules would make the process a bit fairer for patients.
DOL is seeking comments on these proposed new rules. You can be sure they will be hearing from the insurance industry, so we need to let them hear from us as well!
Please read Jeannette Burmeister’s excellent post about this at http://thoughtsaboutme.com/
Then submit your comments. They do not need to be lengthy or eloquent– Just tell the DOL that you support their efforts at making disability insurance a bit fairer!
Comments need to be submitted before January 15, 2016. Please note that all comments will be published online without redactions; therefore, do not include any sensitive information.

New legislation that is more transparent through all the stages of the process of applying and/or appealing decisions, seeking greater fairness to enable those to live who have by misfortune become incapacitated to work is very important. In this respect our labor laws obviously need a certain independence from the insurance industry so they are aligned with justice as fairness rather than the profit lines of insurances corporations.
