#MEAction USA State & Local Advocacy

<< Return to #MEAction USA home

#MEAction aims to mobilize our community at the local level to engage local elected officials, state governments, health departments, social services and schools, as well as the medical and research community, to advance care & research for ME patients across the United States.

2.  Join or start a State Chapter

#MEAction USA aims to grow our community’s impact through the expansion of our formal state chapters. State chapters build local volunteer capacity around volunteer engagement, congressional outreach, local and state advocacy, medical education, and support awareness-raising efforts for ME. We are building a strong, national, distributed network of patient activists and allies to grow the movement for health equality.

Our Goal

As we grow as an organization, our goal is to have a chapter in every state and, eventually, a local chapter in major cities across the nation. We already have 9 official state chapters and we are growing! In the upcoming coming months, we will be offering calls to currently established state chapters and offering a rolling-application process to bring new states into the fold. We cannot wait to see what happens in states across the country, including!

  • More State resolutions and proclamations
  • Increased medical education initiatives
  • State group organized Unrest screenings
  • Meetings with elected officials to demand change for ME
  • Stronger volunteer engagement
Why State Chapters Matter

We have to build support from the bottom up. Local advocacy on ME will bring us to the national stage, but that starts with you. Look at the success of local #MEAction chapters – we are making noise and getting noticed in the press, local governments, and by medical practitioners.

As we grow, we are better equipped to support our local chapters in new ways.
