The easiest way to contact the office is to send a message through the 1-click Countable tool below. However, if you can do your own email and phone outreach, this personal approach is more effective – especially if you already have contacted a staff person in the Congressional office and have their email address. See the sample email template and call script below. (And please copy Congress@meaction.net on any emails you send.)
If you use Countable tool below, please personalize the message by editing the text directly within the box. Make sure to add your name and zip code to the message. Please note that you will need to register with Countable (very easy). You will get a follow-up email from Countable saying, Welcome to Countable. It will request that you confirm your email address. The message will NOT be sent until you do that!
To find your Senators, go here and choose your state:
To email your Senator, simply copy and paste the sample letter below. Modify the first sentence if, for example, you are the parent/spouse/etc of someone with ME/CFS. You can also modify the letter to add or change anything you’d like. If you already have contacted a staff person in the Congressional office and have their email address, you can send your personal email directly to them. And please remember to copy Congress@meaction.net on any email you send so we can track what’s happening.
Dear Senator ______,
I’m writing to you as a constituent afflicted with the severe neuro-immune disease Myalgic Encephalomyelitis, commonly known as Chronic Fatigue Syndrome or ME/CFS, to ask for your support. It would mean so much to me, and to the estimated 1 to 2.5 million other Americans afflicted with this disabling disease, if you and your staff would:
1. Co-sponsor the tri-partisan Senate Resolution – S.Res.508 introduced by Senator Markey and co-sponsored by Senators Collins, King, and Van Hollen to raise awareness about ME/CFS. Please contact Nikki Hurt at Nikki_Hurt@markey.senate.gov to co-sponsor this Resolution.
2. Watch Unrest, a profoundly beautiful and moving 90 min. Oscar-shortlisted and Sundance Festival-winning love story about ME/CFS and chronic illness. Please email email@example.com to request a free film screener. You may also view Unrest on Netflix, iTunes, Amazon, Google Play, or Vimeo here and watch the trailer here. Tell us when you have done this, so we can give you a social media shout-out for listening to your constituents!
Please let me know if I can count on your support for these two actions. Thank you so very much.
With tremendous gratitude,
If you reach someone:
My name is _________. I’m a constituent in (city and zip) and a member of the #MEAction organization. I am calling with an urgent request for Senator______ to support me and the 1 to 2.5 million other Americans with the disabling neuro-immune disease ME/CFS. I am asking Senator___________ and his/her staff to:
May I be connected to your health legislative assistant to discuss this?
You probably will not be connected to the assistant. If you are, repeat what you said above and go on to the next paragraphs. If you are not connected to the assistant, continue on with the next paragraph.
It would mean the world to me, my family, and other ME/CFS patients in our state to have Senator ____’s support. May I call back tomorrow to find out if Senator ____ will take these 2 small actions to help his constituents with ME/CFS?
If you need to leave a voicemail:

Please call me back at ___________. I will email your office a copy of these 2 asks and will call back tomorrow to confirm that you received it. Thank you.
