At 5:00 pm Eastern time yesterday, we found out that the Minnesota house would be voting on a bill that would remove funding to all Long COVID grants, including #MEAction’s grant, which allows us to provide direct support to people with ME and Long COVID. This is yet another SOS moment for people in our community.
We had until 9pm yesterday to submit testimony for the hearing. Ben HsuBorger literally got on a train within minutes of it leaving to make it to Minneapolis by the 9am hearing, compromising his health to get there in hopes his plea would make a difference in the vote. #MEAction Minnesota Chair Terri Wilder opened her home at midnight to house him and prepare for the hearing.
Our loss of funding for ME-related grants is happening at both the federal and the state level at a rapid and scary pace, and that is why we have focused our #MillionsMissing efforts on an SOS to every politician that will listen.
We cannot allow our elected officials to harm chronically ill and disabled people with rampant cuts. It is unacceptable.
#MEAction takes action in a crisis. We fight for people with ME and Long COVID every single day. Just watch Ben’s testimony.
But we can’t do this fight without your support. We have an urgent need for funds to fuel our fight. Can you make a $29 or $290 donation today? We need you now, more than ever.
