Communications Intern

Job Description

Duration: 3 months

Location: Los Angeles

Compensation: $400 per month

Reporting: To Deputy Director

Hours: This position is 7-10 hours per week.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Detail-oriented, able to follow directions, and take initiative when needed
  • Outgoing and friendly personality, professional communication style
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to multi-task and work well under time constraints
  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Word
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills
  • Experience with building a following on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram
  • Proficient in GoogleDocs, Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Experience with Photoshop and InDesign preferred

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Social media engagement (update and post)
  • Outreach to potential strategic partners
  • Proofread, edit and fact check articles
  • Research and suggest new article, social media and website ideas/themes
  • Assist with preparation for newsletter and magazine.
  • Support #MEAction team, when needed, to do research
  • Assist with and attend special events and meetings
  • Assist in developing materials to support the call to actions
  • Assist in creating logos, banners, and basic research for events/activities, to post on web site and social media
  • General office support including: data entry, filing, etc.
  • Submit a signed log of hours and duties completed every month to the Deputy Director
